It's a Small World

In a meeting at work today we were discussing our next two-week work sprint. I mentioned that I would only be there for two days of the sprint as I'll be in Portland, Oregon, the rest of the time. One of my co-workers lit up and excitedly said "My mother lives there. If you have extra time you should give her a call. She loves meeting new people." I know Portland is a good-sized city, and from all accounts is quite beautiful. I didn't realize that, even though it's a continent away, it was already part of the small world I inhabit.
